Close Date:

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the tenure track. Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D degree.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching and mentoring of graduate and medical students. Mentorship of undergraduates and postdoctoral fellows is also encouraged.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include establishing a research program that leverages innovative experimental methodology and/or molecular tools to probe the mechanistic basis of cellular function. Basic science research programs with relevance for immune or inflammatory disorders, mucosal cell biology, or cancer cell biology will be prioritized, but all areas of cell biology will be considered. Applicants must have a clear record of productivity and ingenuity, a high likelihood of securing extramural funding, and a desire to take full advantage of our unique collaborative environment.

The position is within the Cell Pathology Division at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), one of several major focal points for Cell Biology within the University of Pennsylvania system. As a CHOP-based Penn faculty member, the candidate will have access to the rich research resources and collaborative opportunities offered across the entire University of Pennsylvania/CHOP campus. In addition to resources available to all Penn investigators, the CHOP Research Institute offers unique advantages such as close ties to clinicians and patient materials. A generous recruitment package and lab space will be provided, together with outstanding institutional resources.

We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. The University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia are EOEs. Minorities/women/individuals with disabilities/protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
