In addition to the main campus in Centralia, Centralia College East in Morton is a smaller site that serves the needs of students in east Lewis County. Job Description

Position Purpose:

This position is responsible for overseeing, organizing, implementing and coordinating all aspects of assigned programs that fall under the Dean of Instruction – Transitional Education and CCEast.

Nature and Scope:

Responsibilities include the overall management of Basic Education for Adults (BEdA) programs and operations including planning, organizing, executing, controlling and evaluating activities, sub-functions and functions of organizations including policies, procedures and staff supervision – all of which requires substantive knowledge of BEdA programs (including High School Plus and I-Best). The BEdA Programs manager is also responsible for maintaining student records, reporting program data, evaluating high school transcripts, and auditing student applications for graduation. This position requires leadership, management, organization, and strong verbal and written communication skills. The successful applicant must be able to exercise independent judgement and decision-making skills as delegated by the dean.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations for BEdA programs;
  • Coordinate and write grants and reports;
  • Develop and implement program goals and procedures to comply with grant and funding sources, including evaluating and adjusting as needed;
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal adult education systems;
  • Maintain and prepare departmental data reports and informational materials/handbooks;
  • Monitor student data including enrollment, gains, student achievement points, and failure to progress;
  • Develop BEdA Program quarterly schedules and submit to the Dean of Instruction for review;
  • Develop, maintain, and improve systems for managing student records and program data;
  • Evaluate incoming high school transcripts and audit student applications for graduation, keeping current on changes to high school graduation requirements;
  • Plan and execute staff meetings;
  • Provide oversight to identify facility needs and work to meet those needs;
  • Ensure that adjunct instructors have materials and curriculum as needed;
  • Conduct adjunct faculty classroom observations;
  • Assist faculty with revising, creating, and implementing curriculum including I-BEST development;
  • Supervise part-time and full-time staff and student workers;
  • Attend State level meetings as Centralia College’s Representative as needed;
  • Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, or a related field OR equivalent education/experience;
  • One (1) year of experience in the field with increasing responsibilities including supervision
  • Experience using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Access, Outlook) as well as navigating online environments, managing websites, uploading/downloading data and information;
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Basic Education for Adults (BEdA) Programs in Washington State;
  • Bilingual / Spanish;
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail;
  • Responsive, timely, and effective in working as part of a team as well as independently;
  • Advanced knowledge of computers and software applications;
  • Experience in a community college/higher education work environment.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining composure and confidentiality in multifaceted environment;
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and initiate work activities within established guidelines; Commitment to work with a diverse group of students, staff, and the public in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all organizational levels and function as a team member
Conditions of Employment

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a twelve (12) month per year, full-time administrative professional exempt position. The salary is $54,384 depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The state of Washington provides a comprehensive benefits package for state employees. The position may participate in the TIAA/CREF retirement system.

The Region

The college is located in southwest Washington on the 1-5 corridor midway between Seattle and Portland, in a beautifully green area of forests and farmland. Centralia College East

Centralia College East (CCEast), located in Morton, represents Centralia College's dedication to meeting educational needs of the residents of central and eastern Lewis County. CCEast provides registration services, educational advising and tutoring, Running Start, career counseling, assistance with financial aid, adult literacy tutoring, GED, T.E.E.N. program for pregnant and parenting teens, placement testing (COMPASS), and online access to Centralia College's library resources. Some classes connect CCEast students to the main campus via interactive television. The CCEast Organization of Students offers additional activities for students.

Garrett Heyns Education Center

The Garrett Heyns Education Center (GHEC) is located within the Washington Corrections Center, a medium security correctional facility situated on a 455-acre site three miles north of the city of Shelton. The Corrections Center is located 50 miles north of Centralia College's main campus and houses approximately 1,600 inmates. Centralia College has participated in an interagency agreement with the Department of Corrections to provide educational services for offenders since 1975. GHEC is a branch campus of Centralia College.
