This mid-level management position provides administrative oversight to an academic division affording educational opportunities within available resources through the planning, researching, building, implementing and sustaining new and existing programs for the provision of credit and non-credit courses that adhere to Oklahoma State Regents of Higher Education (OSRHE) policies and guidelines.
The Dean emphasizes student success, faculty development and evaluation of curriculum including new program development. The individual possesses the ability to lead faculty and staff while being visionary and proactive. The individual will value the need for collegiality and teamwork with other Deans. Serves as an ambassador in the community and to industry.
The Dean provides long-term strategic planning for the division while assisting faculty in curriculum development and instructional planning. In addition, the Dean keeps abreast with current trends in workforce and economic development.Reports To:

The Dean should possess faculty qualifications in a program within the division.
Master’s degree from a regionally accredited College or University required in a program within the Division or in a directly related field.
Five (5) years experience in administration or academic department programs or in a directly related field.
Five (5) years teaching experience in Higher Education or training in a directly related field.Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated academic leadership including excellent written & oral communication skills, interpersonal skills and good judgment
Understanding of budget, planning, assessment, and personnel processes
Strong organizational and management skills
Ability to assess faculty & staff performance and provide appropriate feedback

1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sedentary work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to grasp, lift, push, pull, carry or otherwise move objects.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with administration, faculty, staff, students, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to operate a computer, other office machinery and mobile devices to to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of hands, wrists, and fingers.
3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor, office setting.
An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited university.
At least six (5) years of higher education administrative experience which includes faculty administrative oversight; and at least a six (5) year successful record of college/university teaching in directly related field.Required Training:

Research, build, and implement division strategic planning that encourages creation of new and sustains existing programs.
Provide an effective and efficient system for the delivery and evaluation of curriculum including new program development.
Assesses programs for effectiveness in meeting student, industry and workforce development needs.
Provide leadership and direction in the recruitment, selection, and hiring of a diverse and qualified full-time and adjunct faculty.
Effectively supervise and evaluate faculty and staff within the division to enhance productivity.
Provide leadership and direction to faculty members in the preparation and implementation of instructional plans consistent with approved competencies.
Recruit quality and engaged advisory board members to serve on advisory boards using network to cultivate a pipeline of internships.
Ensure the program advisory committees meet regularly (once to twice per year) for certificate and AAS programs.
Supervise the instructional delivery system and provide guidance for continued instructional quality. Provide oversight in the development of learning materials and assure the quality of same.
Provide management of the division on a daily basis, including student and faculty issues and required institutional meetings.
Develop the division budget with input from faculty and staff. Establish and maintain appropriate accounting procedures.
Authorize expenditures within the approved division budget.
Coordinate with department chairs, coordinators, and faculty the assessment of student learning outcomes for the programs within the division. Evaluate program outcomes and develop recommendations based on these evaluations.
Oversee the implementation of an approved system for assuring faculty and staff development.
Encourage faculty to seek out grant opportunities to sustain current and/or develop new programs.
Monitor physical conditions of classrooms and office facilities and ensure efficient utilization of available space. Supervise scheduling of classes and assigning of classroom space to ensure quality instruction.
Represent faculty/staff to internal departments and appropriate external agencies (such as programmatic accreditors, business and industry professional organizations, etc.) to ensure effective and efficient operation.
Provide employees with leadership, information, and training regarding established safety and health procedures and practices in compliance with federal, state, and College requirements.
Advise the Vice President for Academic Affairs on significant matters and support the achievement of institutional goals.Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures):

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.
Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.
Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.
Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
This position has been identified as having significant responsibility for student and campus activities. The individual holding this position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs are required to report crimes they become aware of to the Reporting Structure at Oklahoma City Community College. Annual CSA training is required for individuals holding this position.
