Murray State University is seeking two qualified applicants for 9-month faculty positions beginning August 2021. One position is a tenure-track assistant professor with a doctorate in Exercise Physiology or closely related discipline. The second position is for a tenure-track assistant professor (preferred) or instructor in the School of Nursing and Health Professions.
Instructional responsibilities will support the undergraduate degree in exercise science. Anticipated courses of instruction include: introduction to exercise science, exercise physiology, exercise physiology lab, scholarly writing, strength and conditioning, biomechanics, care and prevention of injuries, and organizational management. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to innovative, high-quality classroom instruction to promote excellence in learning. The Exercise Science program emphasizes critical thinking, written communication skills, and application of theory and research for evidence-based practice. A commitment to academic advising, engaging in scholarly activity, and providing service to the program, department, college, university, and community is expected. Additionally, the faculty member will assist the program with advising, curricular development, accreditation reporting, marketing, and recruitment.Minimum Education Requirements:
The first position, Assistant Professor, requires a Doctorate degree in Exercise Physiology or closely related discipline. ABDs with a documented plan of completion by appointment date will be considered.
The second position, the Instructor/Assistant Professor, prefers a candidate with a Doctorate degree in Exercise Physiology or closely related discipline, or a candidate with a projected completion date of a doctoral degree. A Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology or closely related discipline is required for the rank of Instructor.Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications:
An established record of successful teaching and scholarship. Strong communication skills and demonstrated collaborative abilities. Clinical expertise in an area of concentration with at least 3 years of practice preferred. An American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certification as an exercise physiologist or clinical exercise physiologist, or other related national certification.
Note: If the successful candidate is master’s prepared, the position will be filled as a non-tenure track, instructor. If successful candidate holds a terminal degree, the position will be filled as a tenure-track, assistant professor.Posting Date:
