Director of Communications and Marketing for Student Affairs

Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Director of Communications and Marketing for Student Affairs (Director IV) is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of division-wide, strategic marketing and communications plans that support the university mission and student success initiatives. The Director will manage all communications with prospective and current students that originate from the division, and will coordinate with other university divisions (Enrollment Services, University Relations, Academic Affairs) to help strengthen student recruitment, retention, and persistence efforts. The Director ensures brand consistency across all areas of the division, including print, video and digital marketing assets; directs the development and maintenance of department websites; and coordinates photo and video shoots with University Relations when needed for marketing purposes. The Director manages the full production and staffing for the division’s student publications, including, but not limited to: The Cougar’s Byte student newsletter, Memorabilia student yearbook and the student handbook; and does related work as required. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.

This is not a remote position and requires physical presence on campus as determined by the Supervisor. It requires working on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic and interacting directly with students following all procedures and protocols set forth in the University’s Restart Plan and any procedures/protocols created through additional correspondence. The employee must have the ability to wear a face covering for the duration of the workday during the COVID pandemic or as determined by university protocol.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and at least two years of full-time, progressively responsible experience working in advertising, communication, marketing, or public relations is required. Master’s degree in Advertising, Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field and five years of specific experience in developing, designing, and executing communications and marketing campaigns, with an emphasis on ensuring branding principles and guidelines are maintained is preferred. Proficiency in the following is preferred: Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook; social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Facebook); experience using Salesforce (Email Cloud); Ellucian (Colleague, CRM Recruit and CRM Advise); Campus Labs (Engage and Baseline); Apple Final Cut Studio; and Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere and Dreamweaver). Knowledge of basic HTML is strongly preferred.
