Summary of Duties:

The Engaged Learning and Career Action Center for Students (ELCA) offers academic advising, career development, learning support and orientation programming to WSU Vancouver students. As a member of the ELCA team, the Employer Engagement Coordinator collaborates with other career staff to provide comprehensive career support to a diverse student population. This position is a two-year grant funded full-time position that is responsible for increasing career related opportunities for students. This will be accomplished by demonstrating an understanding and practical application of both the workforce and higher education systems. The Employer Engagement Coordinator’s dual focus of serving students and building partnerships with business and organizational leaders is intended to align industry needs with the knowledge, skills, and abilities of WSU Vancouver students. This position will have a strong connection to Workforce Southwest (WSW) and the broader workforce system, and will engage in a variety of student-centered career development and employer support functions. This position will work in tandem with leadership in ELCA and other strategic campus partners to identify and develop opportunities within those systems to serve the workforce needs of businesses and industry. Priorities for this role include coordinating a plan to engage businesses in creating opportunities for WSU Vancouver students and providing direct career development coaching to students enrolled in the UNIV 250 and UNIV 301 courses, through individual appointments, and workshops. This position will utilize the classroom as a vehicle to access students and function as the centralized employer advocate and resource within the WSU Vancouver campus.

Required Qualifications:

Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. Experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.

Additional Requirements:

At times, remote work is required for this position. Successful applicants must have access to a high speed internet connection that is secure and reliable. Strong technical skills in online meeting software (i.e., Zoom) is essential to perform the responsibilities listed above at a distance when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in counseling, higher education or related field.

Experience teaching career-related workshops and career courses for credit in a higher education setting.

Experience planning large events such as a career and internship fair.

Experience and success working with diverse communities, such as students of color, first generation college students and non-traditionally aged students.

Experience using career recruitment databases.
