Primary Function:

As Director of Men’s Basketball Operations, this position manages the men’s basketball program and is a vital part of assisting the Head Men’s Basketball Coach adhere to Bylaw 11.1.1.1 Responsibility of the Head Coach by communicating, monitoring and documenting compliance matters that occur within the program with the head coach directly. As the gatekeeper to the men’s basketball program, this position is required to be knowledgeable and have an understanding of the game of basketball and compliance with NCAA, conference and institutional requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities (generally):

This position is responsible for directly
leading and executing strategies, program procedures and policies as it relates to the
NIU Men’s Basketball program’s daily operations. This position is the direct contact to the department heads of Athletic Business Office, Equipment Operations, Athletic Training, Academic Services and Sports Performance for all matters related to the men’s basketball program including making executive decisions as it relates to the student-athlete experience and well-being within these areas. All of the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules and regulations of affiliated national, regional and state intercollegiate athletic associations, the Mid-American conference (or subsequent member conference) and the university.

Minimum Required Qualifications for this position:

Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of two years’ collegiate men’s basketball experience (operations)

Education and Experience Preferred:

Master’s degree
Minimum of three years of work experience with intercollegiate athletics or at a university,
preferably Division 1.

List the knowledge, skills, and abilities critical to the performance of this position.:

Strong verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Have thorough knowledge of NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and conduct program within those rules.

As a staff member within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, you are responsible for knowledge of and compliance with National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) regulations, both those general in nature and those which apply directly to your position’s responsibilities. Strict adherence to all applicable governing policies, procedures, and regulations of the NCAA is required and is a condition of your employment.

Working Hours:

Varies; nights and weekends included

Minimum Pay Rate (Hourly or Monthly):

$50,000.00 - $57,000.00

Hiring Rate Information:

Actual hiring rate is commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity; position includes a robust benefits package to eligible applicants.
