The John and Nell Mitchell Endowed Chair for Pediatric Nursing will be a senior nurse scientist with a history of extramurally funded research focused on improving quality of care and symptom management for infants, children, and adolescents who are high-risk and/or chronically ill.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The John and Nell Mitchell Endowed Chair will be a national leader in discovering and disseminating new knowledge in pediatric nursing. This Endowed Chair will build and lead interdisciplinary research teams that will have an impact on the complex care of vulnerable infants, children, and adolescents.

  • Develop and maintain a focused, extramurally funded program of research.
  • Communicate scholarship (teaching, research, and/or practice/service) intra and inter professionally.
  • Serve or develop as a master teacher in the classroom, laboratory, or field sites.
  • Serve as a research mentor to graduate students and undergraduate honors students.
  • Serve as a mentor to and/or collaborator for peer faculty in their teaching, research and practice/service.
  • Participate in faculty governance of the College and University.
  • Provide professional leadership within regional, local, national and international nursing and multi-disciplinary groups.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possession of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree or a Master of Science in Nursing.
  • Doctoral degree in Nursing or a related field.
  • Program of research as evidenced by extramurally funded research and data-based publications.
  • Eligible for Registered Nurse licensure in Arizona.

Preferred Qualifications:

*Previous teaching experience at the graduate level. *Previous mentoring experience. *Previous professional leadership experience.
