The Radar Facility Technician will provide maintenance, preparation and field efforts for the new weather radar and instrumentation facility at Illinois. This position will support the new mobile Doppler radar and instrumentation facility in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Illinois.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Contribute to equipment preparation and field data collection efforts related to the new weather radar and instrumentation facility at Illinois.
• Lead major tasks related to Pod, Mobile Mesonet, and vehicle readiness, as well as radar and radar platform and vehicle readiness.
• Train other Facility staff and other institution field personnel in the operation and readiness of instrumentation, radars, and vehicles.
• Travel to most major field projects and provide data display and management support to the facility systems for much of the duration of these projects.
• Other tasks, both in the field and at base, related to the scientific, educational, outreach, technical, logistical, and promotional missions of the facility.
Required: Bachelor’s degree in meteorology or closely-related field. Five years experience in the following: managing and participating in the maintenance of a diversity of instrumentation including radars, atmospheric sounding systems, mobile and deployable weather stations, pickup truck and international truck vehicles; driving and operating mobile weather radars, mobile mesonets, including international operations; experience training field operations and maintenance staff; experience with data quality control and programming Campbell data loggers.

SALARY AND APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
This is a full-time academic professional position appointed on a 12 month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position will be mostly based in Boulder, Colorado, which is where the facility is maintained.
