Rhodes College is seeking applications for 2 Assistant Directors of Admission.

The Assistant Director of Admission's primary role is to assist the Admission Office in meeting its enrollment goals by working with prospective students, parents and guidance counselors in the recruitment of students.

Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Speak with and/or interview prospective students and parents when they engage with the College to discuss their admission qualifications and to explain the value/benefits of a Rhodes education.

  • Plan, arrange and execute approximately six to ten weeks of physical and/or virtual recruitment travel.

  • Build and maintain relationships, encourage applications and promote campus visits with prospective students in assigned market segments. Serve as alumni and parent support in the geographic market.

  • Read all applications within assigned market segment by the appropriate deadline and participate in an admission committee.

  • Submit appropriate recruitment planning and budget proposal to the Director of Admission for consultation and approval each year. Provide a report of recruitment activities as requested by the Dean of Admission.

  • Define annual goals in collaboration with the Director for assigned market segments.

  • Effectively use the admission office computer programs and databases.

  • Assist the Vice President for Enrollment & Communications/Dean of Admission and/or Director of Admission with other miscellaneous projects as needed. These could include database management; website management; minority student recruitment; international student recruitment; assisting with creation, writing and editing of admission publications or serving as liaison to various departments on campus; assisting with on-campus programs as needed.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably from a liberal arts institution.

  • This position requires a valid driver's license, good driving record, and must be insurable by the College's insurance carrier.

  • One or more years of admission experience or admission-related work in a liberal arts institution is preferred, but not required.

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Candidates must be able to understand and articulate the benefits of a liberal arts education in a residential setting.

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, over the phone, via email and in person.

  • Must exhibit professionalism and diplomacy in working effectively with diverse constituencies and demonstrate self-confidence and poise.

  • Proficiency on Microsoft Office required.

  • Must be comfortable working with customer relationship management software and all forms of social media.

  • Must be able to work unsupervised, be self-directed, and enjoy working in a team-based environment.

Physical Demands: General office environment that requires sitting on a constant basis. The candidate will perform computer work, keyboard use, and telecommunications on a frequent basis. Manual dexterity will be required to perform keyboard and writing activities on a frequent basis. Visual acuity is required on a frequent basis to read and review print and electronic documents. Reaching and pushing/pulling with a force of up to 20lbs will be performed on a rare basis. Mobility of the candidate will be sufficient to allow moving about the office, to and from the building, and to provide walking tours of campus on an occasional basis. The physical demands must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
