Position Summary:

The Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center’s PRO Core ( helps researchers use Patient-reported Outcomes (PROs) to bring the patient’s voice to cancer care. This programmer position will be responsible for setting up data collection and participant tracking for the increasing number of clinical research studies that need the PRO Core system. The PRO Core system is used on an ongoing basis by research studies that include thousands of research participants across hundreds of study sites. Responsibilities primarily include gathering requirements, configuring study forms, questionnaires, and other aspects of the study protocol in a purpose-built web-based application, and closely monitoring the project’s cost and scope.

Educational Requirements:

Master’s or Bachelor’s and 0 – 2 years’ experience or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential requirements
-Experience with web application programming
-Strong organizational and communication skills

Preferred requirements
-Strong UX skills
-Strong writing skills
-Strong understanding of agile software development workflow
-Experience with HTML and CSS
-Experience with PHP and JavaScript
-Experience with JavaScript framework such as Vue.js
-Having worked with research studies
-Having worked with projects in a clinical setting
-Experience with developing native or progressive mobile apps
-Basic understanding of Linux environment and shell scripting
Experience with web application programming
Strong organizational and communication skills
