Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:In support of the mission of UNC Greensboro, the University Registrar’s Office fosters student success and cultivates exemplary student experiences for all University constituents related to academic records, policies, and regulations.
Position Summary:Reporting to the University Registrar, the University Registrar’s Office Technical Writer is responsible for creating technical documents, operational procedures (OPs) and training manuals, explaining complex information in a clear and concise manner, and working with URO staff to ensure accuracy of process and procedural description. The Technical Writer will migrate existing OPs to the current format and include new screenshots. Additionally, the Technical Writer is responsible for working with the URO staff to develop and/or update existing OPs to reflect current policy and practice. By the end of the appointment, the Technical Writer will produce:
1. an updated and complete set of URO OPs
2. a new URO OP database
3. a comprehensive new employee training manual and system access list
The successful applicant will have experience creating technical documents and manuals, explaining complex information in a clear and concise manner, and working with higher education, business, technology, or scientific staff to ensure accuracy of process and procedural descriptions.
Minimum Qualifications:-Bachelor’s Degree in Education Administration, Business, Journalism, English, Communications, or related field.
-Proven experience working in a technical writing position.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Proficiency in MS Office
-Strong attention to detail
-Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences.
Skilled at prioritization and multitasking.
