The University of Central Florida's Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) seeks an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Investigator to investigate complaints of violations of University policies and regulations based on discrimination, discriminatory harassment, and retaliation.

The successful candidate will act as an impartial, neutral investigator throughout all aspects of the investigation process, and ensure that all investigation activities and OIE decisions are consistent with University policies and procedures. The EEO investigator will conduct inquiries, perform investigations, provide University-wide training, facilitate employees' requests for accommodations, and provide information to students and employees regarding compliance with the University's nondiscrimination policies and regulations, as well as civil rights laws and regulations.

The EEO investigator will report to the Director of the Office of Institutional Equity and will be responsible for conducting prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations, including preparation of concise and accurate investigative reports. At the direction of management, the EEO investigator also will assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating goals and objectives related to affirmative action and equal employment opportunity matters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Investigate complaints alleging a violation of the university's non-discrimination regulations and policies. This includes: preparing and finalizing correspondence, memos, and investigative reports that need to be concise, coherent, and accurate; organizing and maintaining all case materials, including entry into OIE's database.

- Facilitate the interactive process for employees' requests for accommodations in the workplace.

- Assist in the training of multiple audiences and constituencies across the university about prevention of discrimination and harassment and how to respond to allegations that the university's nondiscrimination policies and regulations may have been violated.

- Perform related duties as required and deemed appropriate in support of the goals and mission of OIE. This includes coordinating special projects and studies, including policy review, trending analysis, and committee participation; compiling reports and statistics, including assisting with the preparation of the Florida Equity Report and the University's Affirmative Action Plan; and, serving as a liaison between OIE and other units of the university.

- Assist in providing management with administrative direction, coordination, and control of activities in the OIE area, which may include the areas of employment, promotion, recruitment, and separation of university employees.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the OIE Director.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Prefer three years of recent and substantive work experience conducting employment-­based discrimination and discriminatory harassment investigations or employment litigation.

- Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough, efficient employment investigations.

- Strong command and working knowledge of basic and advanced principles of federal and state nondiscrimination laws and employment discrimination, including but not limited to Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

- Resume reflecting demonstrated skill in witness examination/interview and investigation techniques, including leading effective party and witness interviews and producing high quality written work products.

- Demonstrated ability to independently and efficiently manage a significant caseload.

- Superb written and verbal communication skills and strong public speaking and presentation skills.

- Strong work ethic and attention to detail; Highly motivated, self-directed execution of routine and special projects.

- Strong interpersonal skills; Demonstrated ability to function well in both leader and teammate roles and interact with colleagues and superiors in a positive and constructive manner when faced with significant deadlines or workloads.

- Demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of discretion and good judgment, and ability to quickly establish credibility and productive working relationships with a broad range of constituents, including administration, faculty, staff, student groups, and unions.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality.

- Prefer five years of experience in conducting employment-based discrimination and discriminatory harassment investigations or employment litigation.

- Experience working in a unionized environment.

- J.D. with demonstrated employment litigation experience, and/or motion practice (particularly summary judgment motions).

- Demonstrated ability to work constructively with diverse populations, and participation in, or support of, organizations that promote diversity or affirmative action.

- Experience relative to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance, including evaluation of requests for accommodations.

- Experience working in a higher education environment or with higher education clients.

Expected Salary:

$64,518 to negotiable
