Located in Western Pennsylvania since 1946, PTC awards associate and bachelor’s degrees and certificates in these areas: Business, Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Design and Engineering Technology, Healthcare, Nursing, Information Systems and Technology, Trades Technology, and Energy and Electronics Technology. The PTC college experience is empowering and culminates in internships and clinical rotations for on-campus, degree-seeking students.

Purpose of Job:

Direct the Public Safety Department and oversee campus security and safety

Education Requirements:

Master’s Degree in related field preferred, Act 120 Qualified, Act 235 Certified

Experience Requirements:

Ten years related security or law enforcement experience; minimum of 3 years must be in a supervisory capacity. Prior experience in higher education, security preferred


•Crime reporting – Cleary act, UCR- uniform crime report and Incident Tracker
•Liaison – North Fayette Police Department, Oakdale PD, Robinson PD, State, County, and Federal Police Agencies
•Code enforcement officer – parking, smoking, industrial safety (OSHA)
•Risk Management – Assess campus facilities for vulnerabilities and lead the development of corrective actions
•Responsibilities for security of buildings and the safety of the PTC community.
•Coordinate all emergency response procedures
ERT – Team Training
Inclement weather determination
Capability assessments
Drill and practices
Ensure all alarm systems and fire suppressions are working
•Educate the campus community about personal and public safety.
•Faculty and Staff safety training
•Ensure the safety of faculty, staff and students
•Ensure safety and security of students living in school sponsored housing
•Serve on Safety and Wellness Committee
•Continued student training on relevant subjects:
Domestic violence
Identity theft
•Active shooter (Run, Hide, Fight)
•Assist with behavior intervention team
•Liaison with Outreach counseling services
•Performs other related duties as assigned

Other Job Information:

•Act 33 and 34 Clearance required.
•Required to wear security personnel uniform
•Must have:
Valid driver’s license
Up-to-date automobile insurance
Dependable car
•Must pass the PA Act 153 background check and motor vehicle check prior to employment.
•Designated Campus Security Authority
•Must be able to perform physical requirements of the job
Must have Act 235 Certification and provide their own firearm to use during scheduled work hours

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday – 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., although hours may vary based on needs. Will be required to be on call for emergencies. Occasional weekend and holiday hours may be required
