Adjunct position in Chinese language

POSITION:  ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR IN MANDARIN CHINESE.  The Department of World Languages and Cultures at Stetson University seeks an individual who can offer two sections of elementary Mandarin Chinese language class with a strong communicative and inductive methodology during the fall 2021 semester, either on-line or on campus

Duration of position: Academic year / Part time

Work schedule:
   Chinese 101 : MW 10:00 am-10:50 am; TR 10:00 am-11:15 am
   Chinese 102:  MW 11:00 am-11:50 am; TR 11:30 am-12:45 am


A Ph.D. in Chinese is preferred, but applicants who hold a master’s degree in Chinese, are ABD in Chinese, or have a terminal degree in a related field will be considered. Teaching experience beyond typical teaching assistant duties in graduate school, while not required, is strongly preferred.


The primary responsibility of this position is to teach two sections of elementary Mandarin Chinese (101 and 102). Textbook adopted: Kubler, Basic Mandarin Chinese (speaking/listening + workbook; reading/writing  + workbook).


The Department of World Languages and Cultures ( currently consists of eleven full-time faculty members with expertise in Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, and Russian.  The Department offers majors with tracks in French and Francophone Studies, German Studies, Hispanic Studies and a new track in Translation Studies, and minors in French, German, Spanish, and Russian. Stetson also offers majors in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies, a minor in Latin American Studies and Asian Studies.  Our faculty members are highly engaged teacher-scholars providing students unique experiences in their language education.
