Job Summary:

Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support of research activities.  Functions include contracts and grants solicitation and administration, grant/agreement preparation, review and negotiation, regulatory compliance, sponsor communication and post and pre award management, human subject compliance, research animal management, research laboratory coordination and instruction, environmental health and safety, radiation control, hazardous materials use, disposal and training.

Professionals at the intermediate level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.

At the intermediate level, duties may be more limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.

The Department of Neurology has an opening for a full time Research Services Professional to serve as a project manager in the Colorado Aging Brain Laboratory.  This position will entail oversight and management of a research study focused on the role of immune dysfunction in cognitive aging outcomes and will entail recruitment and follow-up of a new cohort of older adults. This position will collaborate with study colleagues at all levels of the organization. We are seeking an individual who is collaborative, communicative, caring, detail oriented and organized, proactive, able to think critically, focused on quality, dedicated to personal growth, and highly motivated in all areas of study coordination.

Examples of Work Performed:

    Oversee the implement all aspects of the study protocol, including: Coordinate all study visits (i.e., pre-screening, scheduling, assessment, tracking, and follow-up of study participants); Develop and implement study tracking tools (i.e. assessment source documents, redcap database, billable procedures tracking) Oversee all aspects of participants’ research experience prior to, during and post study visits (i.e. answering research related questions, confirmation emails, data collection, follow-up communication) Manage MRI appointments
Ensuring study quality meets the requirements of study protocols, department and UCH Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) (e.g., accurately entering in appropriate information/documents into OnCore and EPIC) and research regulations and best practices (e.g., ICH guidelines, FDA code of Federal Regulations, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)). Examples of this include proactively preventing deviations, creating source documents, creating backup plans, and ensuring principal investigator oversightOversee annual reports to the National Institute on Health, and annual reports to the Colorado Institutional Review BoardTrain and mentor PRAs who assist with study implementationDevelop study participant retention protocols (e.g., develop study newsletters)Develop and implement recruitment strategies, including scheduling community talks, creating study flyers, and liaising with community organizationsParticipate in community aging events (e.g., aging expos) related to increasing exposure of our laboratory and studyDevelop and manage the Colorado Aging Brain Laboratory websiteIndependently, working, communicating, and collaborating with various colleagues (e.g., principal investigator, clinicians, medical staff, sponsors, contract research organizations (CROs), and neurology research staff, finance and billing professionals, and regulatory team) at various stages of each study assigned. The individual is responsible for providing excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders by presenting a positive image of the department and UniversityAttend Colorado Aging Brain Laboratory meetings and provide weekly reports on study recruitment, visit completion, and retentionSalary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $46,609 - $50,754.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is ineligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological science, psychology, or related field 
  • Two years of clinical research coordinator experience OR Two years of cognitive assessment experience
  • Experience working with aging (i.e., older adult) patient populations
  • Experience administering cognitive assessments in a research setting
  • Experience coordinating research studies with healthy aging (i.e., older) adults
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in Neuroscience
  • Managing imaging (MRI) appointments.
  • Experience with RedCap, FileMaker Pro, or eCRF databases
  • Experience with Epic (UCH electronic medical record system) and CTMS systems (Oncore)
  • Experience with website design and/or website management
