Position Summary

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluate injuries in order to design and execute appropriate rehabilitation exercises.
  • Communicate with coaching staffs, athletes, physicians, co-workers, students, parents, media, and consultants regarding the athletes healthcare
  • Maintain and implement comprehensive preventive physical conditioning programs for the student-athletes.
  • Plan and administer emergency care as needed
  • Make necessary medical referrals.
  • Organize and maintain daily medical records, including daily treatment logs using an Electronic Medical Record system.
  • Ensure that University, NCAA, federal and state policies, procedures, and/or regulations are followed.
  • Instruct and evaluate athletic training students.
  • Provide healthcare for student-athlete teams
  • Cover home and away contests.
  • Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

    Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post-bachelor degree work, such as a Masters in Physical Education with relevant coursework in athletic training; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in all aspects of athletic training or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).

    Division I collegiate experience as an athletic trainer.
