Buena Vista University seeks a student-focused, creative student development leader to serve as the next Vice President for Student Success (VPSS), the University’s chief student affairs officer. The VPSS will provide vision, strategic direction, and executive management of student life, student services, student development and Buena Vista University’s NCAA Division III Athletics programs. As a member of the President’s Council, the Vice President must work collaboratively with senior colleagues to promote student learning, development, and success.

The Position

Reporting to the President Brian Lenzmeier, the Vice President for Student Success (VPSS) will provide leadership to a developing team as they move divisional initiatives forward and mature into a synergistic group. As the chief student affairs officer, the VPSS will work closely with members of both the President’s Council and the Student Success divisional leadership team, as well as partners across campus, to enhance student engagement, retention, and success.

Buena Vista University’s new Vice President for Student Success will oversee the organization, integration, and assessment of divisional initiatives with overarching campus goals, as well as the guide the development of new initiatives and champion their implementation. The successful candidate will have 5 years of experience in student development or a related field, preferably in positions with progressively increasing levels of responsibility for leading staff and budget management. A Master’s degree is required, with doctorate preferred, in a relevant field of study.
