Under the direction of the Senior Talent Management Specialist and providing primary support to the HR Consultants in the Central Administration HR Services (CAHRS), the incumbent is responsible for assisting in providing recruitment support directly to clients and in support of the overall client portfolio.

Working as a member of the Integrated Talent Management team, the Talent Management Advisor is responsible for full cycle recruitment for a range of positions, including sourcing candidates, telephone screening, coordinating and conducting interviews, administering testing and conducting reference checking. The Talent Management Advisor advises departmental contacts on appropriate recruitment procedures and ensures compliance with the applicable policy or collective agreement and related employment legislation throughout the recruitment process.

The Talent Management Advisor is expected to maintain a high standard of professionalism, striving to ensure timely, quality results for all clients while maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of relevant University policies, collective agreements and government legislation.

Education:

  • University degree in a relevant field of study; completion of (or working towards) Certificate in Human Resource Management (CHRP), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two to three (2 – 3) years’ experience working in a Human Resources department with experience in recruitment, job evaluation, collective agreements and HR policy interpretation and application; Familiarity with academic environment preferred.
  • Three years’ experience managing full-cycle recruitment.
  • Experience writing clear and compelling job advertisements, effective interview questions, and devising testing materials.
  • A proven record of accomplishment in developing and managing professional relationships at all levels required.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, applicant tracking systems and LinkedIn.
  • Professional and polished presenter, with exceptional oral, written communication and active listening skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and project management skills and the ability to deliver high quality work while managing frequent workload changes and competing deadlines.
  • Strong relationship management and networking skills.
  • Strong decision-making skills and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Highly detail-oriented, self-directed and a motivated team player.
  • Perform repetitive work according to set procedures.
  • Ability to follow instructions, accept feedback, and be adaptable and flexible.
  • Must have an excellent client service orientation and demonstrate initiative, diplomacy and discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both in a consultative team environment and independently.
  • Ability to interact with HR Consultants and senior clients in a manner that generates their attention and respect, facilitates cooperation and achieves consensus.
  • Ability to quickly grasp requirements of collective agreements and recruitment policies and practices of the University of Toronto; highly skilled at providing value-added strategic advice aligned with employment legislation and internal policies and procedures.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Direct recruitment and marketing experience an asset, along with experience with applicant-tracking software.
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting candidates from designated groups.

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience recruiting in a unionized environment.
  • Experience working with human resource information systems (HRIS).

Note: This is a two (2) year term position, ending June 2023.
