JOB SUMMARY: The OTA part-time faculty position is a 10 month position with a fully accredited OTA program. The OTA part-time faculty member is responsible for teaching, committee assignments, professional development, OTA program evaluation and other duties expected of faculty.

MAJOR DUTIES:

Teaching responsibilities:

  • Update and revise course syllabi in accordance with ACOTE standards yearly
  • Update and keep current Brightspace/D2L material for all courses taught including syllabi, assignments and learning resources
  • Develop quizzes, tests, exams, practical exams, didactic and laboratory experiences consistent with the OTA program’s philosophy and curriculum design
  • Remain current with available textbooks and order textbooks as required by MGA protocol
  • Maintain course grades, records of attendance and participate in assessment of professional behaviors
  • Monitor student academic performance, remediate as needed, and provide Early Warning notifications
  • Explore creative teaching methods consistent with the OTA program’s philosophy and curriculum design
  • Communicate with fieldwork coordinator to ensure that fieldwork experiences strengthen the ties between didactic and fieldwork education

Committee assignments:

  • Participate in department committees as assigned
  • Participate in OTA faculty meetings

Professional development:

  • Maintain state licensure
  • Maintain certification with NBCOT
  • Participate in continuing education to improve teaching skills and to remain current in areas of expertise and teaching
  • Develop, update and revise curriculum vitae and faculty development plans yearly

OTA Program Evaluation:

  • Evaluate courses taught and complete course evaluation form, and revise syllabi and teaching activities in response to this review
  • Assist in analysis of feedback from graduate surveys, employer surveys, graduating class focus group, and advisory board meetings
  • Participate in other OTA program evaluation activities including review of mission, philosophy, curriculum design, facilities and resources, and strategic plan
  • Assist in preparation of annual report, interim report, and self-study for reaccreditation when necessary

Other OTA faculty duties:

  • Recommend supplies, equipment, books, videos, library resources
  • Assist in OTA orientation start of fall semester

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Currently credentialed and licensed Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant with a minimum of a Baccalaureate degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE recognized regional or national accrediting body.
  • Documented expertise in their area of teaching responsibility.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience or additional degree in social work, psychology, or psychosocial practice.

COMPENSATION: Commensurate with education and experience.
