Job SummaryPrimary duties are to perform experiments understanding the evolution of aging in experimentally-evolved multicellular yeast, and how it may be co-opted for novel multicellular functionality. This involves genetic transformation, fluorescent labeling of proteins, imaging and quantitative image analysis, cell culture, sequence analysis, and more. Secondary duties will include supporting grad student and post-doc research (prepare and autoclave media and pipette tips, arrange for biohazard waste removal, maintaining the chemical inventory), and general lab maintenance and upkeep.
- Assist with yeast genetics experimentsConsult with research leadership to determine scope and extent of experimental and analysis needsDetermine equipment and materials needed to support experimental and analysis effortsIndependently and sometimes collaboratively set up and conduct experiments following prescribed procedures and protocolsAnalyze and document results of experimentsCalibrate and maintain laboratory equipmentMaintain required inventories of materials and supplies neededPerform other related duties as assigned
Job Duty 1 -
Gather, compile and summarize data in conjunction with assigned scientific tests, experiments, etc

Collect and prepare samples for use in assigned tests

Operate various equipment used in research studies.

Educational Requirements
Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
One to two years of job related experience
Preferred Education/ Experience
- Must have a college degree, preferably in biological sciences or related field
- Must have extensive experience with molecular biology (e.g., PCR, transformation, cloning, etc)
- Must have experience with general microbiological practices (e.g., sterile technique, growth of bacteria/yeast)
- The ideal candidate will have experience with yeast molecular biology and microscopy
SKILLS
This job requires basic knowledge of research lab equipment and support processes and practices. Includes skill in data organization, statistical analysis and use of statistical and scientific computer applications.
