Job Description Summary:The Department of Physician Assistant Studies in the Lewis School of Health Sciences at Clarkson University is recruiting for two full-time faculty members at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. The position requires a graduate degree as a physician assistant. This is a non-tenure accruing position with salary and benefits commensurate with background and experience.
Responsibilities include instruction in a graduate level educational program for physician assistant students involving didactic and clinical year curricular phases and include classroom teaching, simulation based education, clinical procedures, skill training, student advising and evaluation, educational administration, service on committees, and clinical practice as assigned, which requires eligibility for New York licensure. Teaching experience in a physician assistant educational program is desirable but not required. Organizational, technological and teaching skills, the ability to be an effective mentor to students and to work collaboratively with faculty are essential.
Minimum Qualifications:• NCCPA certified Physician Assistant or Board certified allopathic or osteopathic physician
• New York State PA registration/license (or eligible) or MD / DO licensed or eligible for licensure in New York State
• PA: Bachelor’s degree in a Health Related Field
• Consideration given to non-clinicians with strong science / health science background who possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
• PA/MD: 2 years of clinical experience
Greater than 5 years of clinical experience
• Experience teaching in a PA program or Medical School
• For PAs, doctoral degree or Master’s with willingness to enter and complete a doctoral program
