Faculty pool for low-residency M.F.A. in creative writing

Job description

Cornell College, a selective liberal arts college located in Mount Vernon, Iowa, is developing a pool of qualified writers to be considered for future faculty appointments in our low-residency M.F.A. in creative writing. Faculty and students come to campus twice a year-in January and July-and students work one-on-one with faculty mentors for semester-long independent studies. While we are not currently hiring, we anticipate expanding our faculty from this applicant pool as we increase our enrollment. Writers interested in being considered for this pool should submit a current CV and letter of application that highlights your preparation for teaching at the graduate level. We are particularly interested in writers who work in multiple genres. Requirements include an MFA or PhD in creative writing and at least one book published by a national press.
Because Cornell College values diversity and strives to create a welcoming community in which all individuals are respected and included, the entire campus community is called upon to engage in dialogue around issues of difference, identity, and ideology. The College is committed to fostering a faculty and staff community that reflects our diverse student body. We encourage applications from candidates who share our vision for a campus that embraces differing backgrounds, viewpoints, and identities, and who will excel at working with students who are broadly diverse. (See our diversity statement here.)
