03-May-2021 Close All Job SummaryThe University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for a Football Assistant Athletic Trainer! This position provides for the care, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses. Work includes administering injury prevention measures for athletes; serving as first responder to injury situations; maintaining injury records; reporting on rehabilitation progress to coaches; and planning return-to-play for injured athletes in collaboration with team physicians and physical therapists. Supports the direction of the Sports Medicine Program by supervising training room and serving on assigned task forces and programs.
This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program. This shall include adhering to the principles of the Athletic Department’s Mission Statement, Diversity and Inclusion Mission Statement, Core Values, Policies and Procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Pac 12 Conference and the NCAA.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will BeSport Coverage:
  • Prevention and care of athletic related injuries for all sports programs.
  • Has primary responsibility for Football including athlete injury prevention and care; athlete records, pre-participation physicals, event and practice coverage, team travel and sport camp coverage.
  • Maintenance of accurate and up to date injury records and daily correspondence with the coaching staff.
  • In conjunction with the rest of the athletic training staff, has responsibility for NCAA mandated coverage of all off-season conditioning sessions.
Administration:
  • Supervise and maintain the aquatic therapy area of the sports medicine department.
  • Responsible for the autoclaving of equipment.
  • Responsible for the yearly certification of therapeutic modalities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate AD for Health and Performance.
Student Intern Program:
  • Assist in the coordination of the recruitment and hiring of sports medicine student interns. Additionally, help with the oversight of the budget for student interns, supervising their payment for hours worked in Sports Medicine Department.
  • Assist in the supervision of a sports medicine intern program, which includes teaching and evaluation.
Athletic Camps:
  • Serve as one of the certified athletic trainers for camps per CU camp policy.
  • Oversee student-trainers working summer camps.
Departmental Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of NCAA, PAC 12 Conference, University and departmental rules and regulations. The violation of NCAA or Conference rules on the part of Athletic Department Personnel may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
  • Adhere to principles stated in the Athletic Department’s Mission Statement and promote dedication to the mission by all staff and student-athletes under his/her supervision.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in health related field, equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
  • Undergraduate collegiate athletic training experience.
  • 2 years post graduate experience.
  • NATABOC certification.
  • CPR/AED Certified.

  • Knowledge of medical needs, expectations, and requirements of student-athletes to promote, maintain, and enhance their health and well-being.
  • Knowledge of injury prevention, data collection, and reporting and injury prevention programs.
  • Knowledge and support of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively work in teams.
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven efficiency in cross-disciplinary collaboration both inside (in other units and functions) and outside the organization.
What We Would Like You To Have
  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • 5 years of post graduate experience.
  • 4 or more years of certified experience supporting a collegiate or NFL football team.
