We are seeking an equity-minded educator, who can facilitate communication, outreach and retention that is accessible to and centers our undocumented student community as well as our Summer Bridge and First Year Experience students. It is imperative that the Special Programs Coordinator thoughtfully create, plan and implement programming and activities designed to build community with our undocumented student experience in mind. The coordinator will also serve as a liaison between undocumented students, internal departments and our local community. It is essential to be detailed oriented, innovative, and collaborate with internal and external partners to further close equity gaps among disproportionately impacted students.

Job Description Summary:

PROGRAM COORDINATOR, SUMMER BRIDGE, FIRST-YEAR EXPERIENCE AND UNDOCUMENTED STUDENT SERVICES (DREAMER’S LIAISON)
DEFINITION:
Under the general supervision of the Administrator, the Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and daily operations of the Ohlone Summer Bridge Program (SB), First Year Experience (FYE), and Undocumented Student Services efforts. This includes determination of program needs, formulation of corresponding action plans, and engagement with faculty and staff to provide Student Success and Support Program (SSP) activities and services. The Coordinator will also assist in developing and monitoring the department budget. The Program Coordinator will oversee all processes of SB and FYE, from admissions to completion experience, including course enrollment, retention, and non-curricular enrichment. Data collection and assessment will also be a critical piece of this position’s responsibility to ensure program accountability, growth, and student success. The Program Coordinator will oversee the Undocumented Student Center and related services, acting as the liaison between undocumented students and the college staff, faculty, and community. In its liaison capacity, this position will serve to provide assistance and information on resources, processes, and the interpretation of college, state and federal policies and laws pertaining to undocumented students. This includes the ability to evaluate eligibility for and process AB 540 and residency reclassification petitions. The Program Coordinator will develop relationships with and provide training to college departments and community partners, will conduct outreach presentations to students and families, and will collaborate with different District areas to develop and expand support services for students.

Essential Duties:

DUTIES:
1.Plan, organize and implement a variety of outreach activities and programs to recruit and retain disproportionately impacted high school student in student success programs;
2.Coordinate and organize activities to promote services that are relevant and cater to students in the local community;
3.Compose and coordinate publication of departmental brochures, newsletters and other informational material related to the SB, FYE, and Undocumented Student Services programs, while maintaining formative assessments of outreach efforts;
4.Develop and implement on-boarding and retention-related programming;
5.Ensure the accurate and timely dissemination and interpretation of information concerning SB, FYE, and Undocumented Student Services programs to staff, faculty, students and the public through presentations;
6.Collaborate with the Counseling department and implement on-going student support services for the SB, FYE, and Undocumented student populations;
7.Coordinate education planning and registration sessions;
8.Support enrollment efforts for disproportionately impacted students with a focus on the college’s prioritized groups of African-American, Latinx, and first-generation students, as indicated in the Student Equity Plan;
9.Maintain program-tracking databases – collect and provide data to the research department and administrators for program evaluation, measurement and verification;
10.Work with other coordinators of similar and grant-funded programs to ensure parody and effective service to students;
11.Attend state and local conferences and workshops related to SB, FYE, and Undocumented Student Services programs;
12.Plan, maintain and update a variety of department and program-related websites and social media accounts in consultation with program faculty and department input
13.Coordinate the SB and FYE program admissions process; collaborate with Admissions & Records to align with the college enrollment process; and, maintain up-to-date knowledge on admissions options and residency processes for Undocumented students;
14.Plan services and activities in collaboration with various college departments to ensure an equity-minded student services model;
15.Participate in the development of the annual preliminary budget; analyze and review budgetary and financial data; authorize expenditure in accordance with established guidelines;
16.Support and empower students to become global citizens and socially responsible leaders;
17.Provide a safe and supportive space for historically marginalized and under-served students, free from fear, harm and discrimination;
18.Market departmental services on various platforms;
19.Organize the development of workshops, events, activities, and programs to ensure that students are aware of and have access to support services;
20.Respond to in-person and electronic inquiries regarding SB, FYE, and Undocumented Student services and programs;
21.Maintain and update a variety of records and documents relating to SB, FYE, and Undocumented Student Services programs, for use in follow-up and preparation of reports (statistical and narrative) of related activities, including reports for the Chancellor’s Office
22.Communicate with other administrators, personnel and faculty to coordinate activities and programs, resolve issues and conflicts, and exchange information in an effort to support staff and faculty in providing success and student services information at a variety of on-campus locations.
23.Train and provide work direction to student workers.
24.Attend and conduct a variety of meetings as assigned; Represent the SB, FYE, and Undocumented Student Services programs on various committees and at relevant meetings
25.Demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of the Colleges’ students, faculty, staff and community;
26.Effectively engage and support historically minoritized groups by addressing issues of equity and improving culturally responsive service-oriented practices.
27.Performs any related duties as assigned.

6.Use campus software to monitor the departmental budget.
7.Use general office software and equipment to develop work schedules, presentation materials, reports, aggregate data, organize events, and communicate with District staff.

Education and Experience:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of a Bachelor’s Degree AND 2 years of experience in a related field.

Must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.
