Overview

Applications are being accepted for a part-time Security Officer at Moraine Park Technical College, Beaver Dam campus. This position, with oversight from the Security Manager, assists with MPTC’s security and safety efforts at all campuses, which includes loss prevention, parking enforcement, student, staff and public safety. 

 

Beginning: August 2021

Responsibilities

1. Provide high visibility throughout the District to maintain the safety and security of the campus facilities. Promote lawful behavior and protect the welfare of the students, staff and the general public. Interact with all staff, students, and appropriate agencies on security-related matters. 2. Conduct preventative patrols to monitor behaviors and to provide a physical security presence on the campus facilities. Monitor camera surveillance systems upon request of the Security Manager. Record observations, information, occurrences and activities.3. Enforce all Moraine Park Technical College policies and procedures in regards to security and safety standards.4. Assist with the investigation of violations of college security and safety policies/procedures. Conduct onsite accident investigations as required.5. Assist with investigations that are in violation of state statutes and municipal ordinances that occur on MPTC property.6. Provide access to buildings, offices and classrooms, as appropriate.7. Provide assistance to students, staff, and general public, such as personal escorts and basic first aid.8. Provide required support to the MPTC’s crisis response program.9. Conduct required safety equipment inspections such as fire extinguishers, emergency eyewash/showers, automated external defibrillators, and first aid kits.10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Associate degree in criminal justice, security or security management and two years of related experience in security management or emergency services. Any combination of equivalent training and experience which provides desired knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.2. Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, students and the general public. Demonstrated ability to verbally defuse threatening situations. Experience investigating and writing detailed reports is preferred.3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based, innovative and continuous quality improvement focused environment.

4. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple projects effectively while exercising individual initiative, independent action and sound judgment. Must be able to work responsibly with minimal supervision. 5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.6. Strong problem solving skills including the demonstrated ability to analyze situations and quickly apply critical thinking skills.7. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.8. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.9. Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
