STARTING SALARY RANGE: $17.64

GRADE: "6"

AVAILABLE: Immediately

INTRODUCTORY PERIOD: Six (6) months

DESCRIPTION: The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for the internal and external collection process for all University student and loan accounts. Responsibilities include account monitoring, analysis, research, resolution, and collection of past due student accounts.

  • Under established guidelines, manages the collection process of past due accounts and delinquent balances through direct contact with students by letter, telephone and email.
  • Audits account activity prior to submitting account for formal collection process
  • Coordinates the submission of delinquent student accounts to external collection partners (attorney or collection agency)
  • Reconciles payments received from collection agencies and attorneys for proper accounting to student accounts and institutional loan funds
  • Adheres to all safety and housekeeping policies and procedures
  • Maintains department confidence and safeguards operations by keeping information confidential
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned or directed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with one (1) year of additional coursework in related field and three (3) to five (5) years of related experience in a similar position or an equivalent combination thereof. Extensive understanding of student receivables, refunds, tuition liability, collection practices, federal regulations, and financial aid regulations. Must have exceptional communication, organizational, and customer service skills. Must have proficiency with numbers; a high level of independent judgement; ability to focus on multiple tasks with tight deadlines; and interpret and apply a variety of rules, regulations and procedures. Ability to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, staff, community, alumni, and other outside entities.
