Group Lead, Youth Ambassadors Program - Center for Intercultural Education and Development (CIED)

Short-Term Position - July 12 - August 27, 2021

CIED's Youth Ambassadors Program is a cultural exchange designed to strengthen the leadership skills of young people from the Caribbean, Latin America, and the United States. It builds bonds of friendship and understanding between people of the Americas and is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State.

The Group Lead for the Caribbean works with Georgetown staff and United States partners to facilitate the virtual exchange for online cohorts in the Caribbean (youth and adult mentors). They provide group facilitation through pre-planned programming focused on leadership, civic engagement and cross-cultural connection, and observe participant behavior carefully. Reporting to the Director, Programs and Business Development, the Group Lead for the Caribbean has duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Lead training and manage the group dynamic of the during the virtual program
  • Communicate daily with all stakeholders to ensure the program is running efficiently and to diagnosis any challenges or issues
  • Complete administrative tasks related to program assignments and reporting
  • Troubleshoot challenges that arise with participants or programming on an ad hoc basis
  • Provide interpretation as necessary

  • Bachelor's degree and/or commensurate experience
  • Extensive knowledge of Latin America/the Caribbean and understanding of cultural difference
  • Experience leading online learning and exchange programs
  • Fluency in languages other than English (French and/or Spanish) may also be required, depending on the group
