Position Description:
Provide paralegal support to the campus-based attorneys and assist the other paraprofessional staff in the campus Office of Legal Affairs. Assignments are typically on a project basis where the incumbent is expected to perform in-depth factual research involving interviews and document reviews and may include basic legal research. Identify further investigation that may be necessary. Organize and analyze material and information obtained. Prepare correspondence, memoranda and other documents such as spreadsheets, tracking logs, exhibits lists, privilege logs, draft reports, subpoena responses, and email communications with witnesses, University officials and others. Communicate on behalf of assigning attorney with University personnel, outside counsel representing The Regents, opposing counsel and outside agencies. Present information and materials obtained to the assigning attorney for instructions and determination of subsequent action. Assist with eDiscovery process as needed, including follow up communications with records custodians, action requests, preservation letter development and collection of evidence for litigation. Periodically assist in handling a variety of other administrative duties.

In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
