Visiting Assistant Professor in Foundations of Education
POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR EDUCATIONAL STUDIES The Department of Educational Studies at Colgate University invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Foundations of Education beginning Fall semester 2021. Completion of Ph.D. is expected prior to or shortly after the date of hire. The Department of Educational Studies utilizes socially engaged and committed frameworks to create a reflective environment where students cultivate a critical understanding of power and privilege. Our faculty provide a breadth of course offerings to students interested in studying education broadly, including students who want to gain political, social, and cultural understandings of larger educational phenomena and/or students planning a career in teaching. The ideal candidate will have a strong interdisciplinary background and will be able to teach our introductory class (“The American School”) as well as upper-level courses based on the candidate’s research interests. In particular, we encourage applicants whose scholarly and pedagogical interests engage some of the following subfields of Educational Studies: Indigenous Studies; Transnational Studies (with particular focus in the Global South); Im/migration; and/or Latinx Studies. The successful candidate may also be asked to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.
