Minimum Qualifications:

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Nutrition or a closely related field.

Position Summary:

The Football Sports Nutritionist will provide comprehensive nutritional services to student-athletes at the University of Georgia. The individual will be responsible for sports nutrition education and counseling to individuals student-athletes and football team in addition to working with University Food Service and outside food vendors, nutritional supplements, and body composition analysis.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

Registered Dietitian and Licensed Dietitian (state of Georgia) credentials.

Sports-specific nutrition knowledge and experience working with high level athletes in a collegiate setting.
Effective oral and written communication skills. Experience creating computer and online educational tools.
Knowledge of NCAA and SEC regulations.

Will work early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Will travel.

Physical Demands:

Bending, stooping, standing for extended periods of time, lifting approximately 25 lbs, work unconditional hours.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Operational & Management Duties:
1. Oversees and conducts the ordering of all meals to include contacting caterers to organize delivery, meal set up, and payment; contacting vendors for weekly ordering for all fueling station & smoothie bar items
2. Create weekly schedule for football volunteers based on staff availability, staffing needs, and practice schedules
3. Execute daily menu updates to football athletes using Team Works software
4. Track athlete attendance for meals
5. Help oversee and coordinate student workforce to maintain football lounge, smoothie bar, and locker room in an organized and food safe manner

Duties/Responsibilities:

Athlete Nutrition Coverage:
1. Assist Director to provide nutrition education to football athletes including but not limited to individual counseling, live meal coaching, and team talks
2. Perform and interpret body composition testing using Bod Pod machine
3. Aware of athletes dietary needs, body weight goals, food allergies, and supplemental needs
4. Execute hydration testing and help to educate athletes on proper hydration practices.
5. Create meal plans to safely meet athletes nutrition needs
