Minimum Qualifications:

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer both commercial retail as well as institutional dining services experience, such as a college, university or full service hotel, private club or multi-unit restaurant.

Position Summary:

This Food Service management position is an administrative and supervisory work position. Occupant of this position directs and monitors the general operation of two residential dining facilities, one residential Quick Market location, and collaborates with culinary leadership regarding the centralized production of like items served throughout residential and select retail dining locations. This position will plan and coordinate training programs for staff. Supervises activities of dining commons managers and provides general direction of employees in the dining operations. Responsible for oversight and use of P-card. Establishes channels of communication and exchange of ideas with customers; utilizes FoodPro system; and assist with strategic and operational planning for dining commons in collaboration with senior leadership of the Auxiliary Dining Services Administrative unit. This position is a senior line position and reports directly to the Associate Director.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

Knowledge of PC’s and/or food production software. Read and interpret information and reports. Respond to inquiries or complaints from faculty, students, staff, and regulatory agencies. Develop ideas that will result in major improvements in existing services. Operate standard office equipment, including credit card machines, UGA card machine, cash register. Operate commercial equipment used in a kitchen. Care for and maintain equipment. Perform work using a computer; search for data or information in computer files. Generate standard reports developed by others. Input or edit information, and/or enter data into spreadsheets or programs developed by others. Ensure/safeguard data integrity. Create graphics, multimedia, and/or desktop publishing applications. Supervise regular employees and students.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Directs and monitors the general operation of Snelling Dining Commons and the Niche to ensure maximum effectiveness and compliance with departmental objectives: customer satisfaction; develops and implements effective procedures for the preparation and delivery of products to the customer; evaluates service concepts for utilization of employee, equipment, and the preparation and delivery of products to the customer; evaluates service concepts for utilization of employees, equipment and facilities. Recommends modifications to operations; implements necessary changes to the operations; maintains health and safety standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Supervises activities of dining commons managers and provides general direction of employees in dining operations. Interviews and recommends hiring of new management team members; supervises the hiring of new staff; determines general work schedules; instructs supervisory employees as to the specific daily service requirements; evaluates managers and ensures evaluations are completed on dining commons staff; determines appropriate disciplinary action when necessary. Plan and implement training programs for dining commons.

Utilizes FoodPro system to ensure compliance with departmental objectives in food cost. Works closely with Executive Chef and culinary leadership in menu development for dining commons. Coordinates with Senior Staff positions to ensure that all departmental and university policies are met.
