Minimum Qualifications:

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

UGA Minimum: Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree

UHC Preferred: Completion of Advanced Education Program in General Dentistry (AEGD) Experience in college health dentistry. A Georgia license (certificate of registration) to practice dentistry In Georgia. Two years of professional experience as an optometrist. Current DEA and BLS Certification.

Position Summary:

Provision of age appropriate primary care to eligible members of the University Community at the University of Georgia Health Center under the supervision of a physician. The Health Center is a large multi-specialty ambulatory care organization that is accredited by the Joint Commission with primary care medical home designation. Provides age-appropriate emergency, restorative, and preventative dental care to students and eligible members of the University community. Performs routine general dentistry procedures (e.g. endodontics, periodontics, exodontics, prosthodontics, and operative dentistry) after obtaining appropriate privileges.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

Competency with electronic medical records. Demonstrating effective and professional communication skills, both verbal and written. Knowledge of infection prevention and control standards established by the CDC and OSHA. Knowledge of Joint Commission standards. Interact effectively as a team member to interact effectively with patients, clients, staff and clinicians. Propensity to work effectively on the UHC team to achieve state-of-the-art health care services for our diverse patient population.

Physical Demands:

Standing, typing, walking limited distances, moving from sitting to standing frequently, pushing/pulling, lifting, bending, squatting and kneeling as needed.
