Technology Coordinator

Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

Provide guidance and leadership in the recommendation and implementation of new technologies within the Department of Adult Education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructional:


1. Provide AE leadership team with direction regarding emerging instructional technologies and research-based teaching practices.

2. Assess, develop, design, and deliver engaging professional development opportunities for AE faculty using sound instructional design and learning principles.

3. Collaborate with the AE leadership team in the development, management, coordination, and support of the integration of instructional technology into the ABE/ASE and ESL curriculum.

4. Assist Director of AE Faculty & Instruction in supporting teachers to plan, deliver, and evaluate instruction using technology.

5. Analyze data to assess the effectiveness of instructional technology in support of student learning and make recommendations to AE leadership team.

6. Teach computer classes at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels to AE students.

7. Assist the Director of AE Faculty & Instruction with the coordination and management of content within the department's Blackboard site, ALEKS, iPathways, etc.

8. Develop, design, and oversee the department's distance learning initiatives.

9. Serve as liaison to outside vendors that provide support for software, technology equipment, and materials.

Administrative:
1. Empower and train AE staff to increase technology utilization to meet the ongoing demands of their jobs.

2. Assist in the constant evaluation of AE office technology and processes and offer recommendations and plans to improve the efficiency of office work.

3. Produce internal and external publications to market technology workshops for faculty, staff, and students.

4. Design and implement regular email correspondence with AE student body, keeping them informed of college and community resources.

5. Collaborate with Triton's Center for Teaching Excellence and Professional Development Center to provide professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.

6. Troubleshoot and solve technological problems that arise in the AE office.

 

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational technology, or related field; master's degree in Educational Technology or Instructional Design preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

2 to 4 years of proven working experience in instructional design and with instructional technology; 1 to 2 years teaching experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications; Knowledge of technologies available for use in instructional setting; Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation.

SKILLS:

Ability to take initiative and to work independently in a high-pressure environment; Strong attention to detail and design aesthetic. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong presentation skills. Critical thinking and problem solving skills as well as creative and abstract thinking. Curiosity in emerging training development tools and ability to quickly research, learn and utilize new technologies. Strong organizational, project management, and analytical skills.
