Description
The Police Corporal assists the Sergeant in ensuring the proper and effective operation of police and security services on campus(es) of assignment.  Ensures peace and order in and around the University campuses. The incumbent assists the Sergeant and Lieutenant in the supervision of Police Officers and Security Officers. 

The Corporal will be responsible for enforcing the work rules and general orders with their subordinates.  Evaluating their subordinates’ performance as well as reviewing paperwork submitted by their subordinates.  Working within established policies and procedures.

Adheres, and may ensure the adherence of others, to the procedures and standards pertinent to their function through applying on-scene corrective measures.

Recommends process improvements. Has advanced knowledge of departmental policies and procedures

Under regular supervision, performs assigned duties within established priorities, such as; notifies superior officers of unusual or emergency situations and takes necessary action until the arrival of superior, supervises preliminary investigation of criminal and non-criminal incidents, interviews and questions victims, witnesses, and suspects, gathers and preserves evidence.  Responds to crime patterns with directed patrols for preventive deployment.

Performs all duties as expected within the scope of their training as a police officer, but also looks at incidents/issues with a broader scope of problem-solving and emergency management. Investigates causes and results of accidents. Writes detailed reports. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

Must have at least 1-year experience as a Temple University Police Officer. Completion of the Municipal Police Officers Training course, and all relevant upgrade programs.

Required Skills and Abilities:

*Must possess a valid driver's license.

*Working knowledge of applicable computer software and applicable professional principles.

*Knowledge of incident command structure/protocols.

*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

*Excellent organizational, motivational skills and ability to demonstrate supervisory potential.
