We are looking for a Talent Development Specialist to join our Talent Management and Workforce Strategy team that focuses on attracting and retaining high-quality employees, developing their skills, and continuously motivating them to perform at their highest potential in the pursuit of achieving the University's mission. This role will partner with the Director of Talent Management and Organizational Development to play a key role in designing, developing, implementing and maintaining the talent development initiatives , with a primary focus on performance management (GPS-Grow and Perform at Stanford) through sharing of ideas, expertise and insights. It is an exciting opportunity to serve as a liaison between University Human Resources and all schools/business units to help maximize the potential of our performance and growth by effectively supporting change management.
As a Talent Development Specialist - Grow and Perform, your responsibilities include:
- Participate in full life-cycle execution of performance management - (GPS-Grow and Perform at Stanford) program and system implementation by understanding the needs of schools/units, combined with university-wide goals and objectives
- Design, deliver and manage training courses and performance support tools such as job-aids including, content uploads, course and program creation and maintenance for GPS
- Provide consultation to academic and/or business unit management on adoption, customization, implementation, and measurement of effectiveness all performance and career programs
- Contribute to the development and operation of GPS, including survey design and deployment, analysis and recommendations for improvement
- Support the design and implementation of other Talent Management and Organizational Development initiatives such as; Professional Development Plan, Career Development, and Succession Planning
- Operate independently to plan, develop, and execute one or more parts of larger development projects
- Provide ongoing support to local HR groups and employees/program participants, and proactively ensure the program is engaging and successful.
- Manage queries and issues relating to existing learning and career development programs, with an eye to continuously improve.
- Support local HR groups in the administration and management of all talent development programs by developing strong collaborative relationships with all members of the HR department and other stakeholders such as HR Systems and Communications teams.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Possess subject matter expertise on talent development practices.
- Demonstrated ability to establish a strong partnership with the human resources partners and other members of the management team.
- Expertise and experience developing and implementing effective talent development solutions, including career development, learning and development, performance management, and organizational effectiveness.
- Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional relationships amongst multiple diverse stakeholders.
- Strong program/project management skills and experience.
- Ability to build the confidence of others through open communication and respectful behavior.
- Ability to connect with customers, partners, suppliers, and colleagues across functions to achieve significant results.
- Ability to positively influence others by gaining consensus through factual information and cooperation from others to accomplish common goals
Certifications and Licenses:
- Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk based computer tasks, use a telephone, and grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
- Occasionally twist/bend/stoop/squat, reach/work above shoulders, grasp forcefully, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Rarely kneel/crawl, operate foot and/or hand controls.
- Travel on campus to schools/units.
- Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates the ability to work well with Stanford colleagues and clients and with external organizations.
- Promote Culture of Safety: Demonstrates commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety; communicates safety concerns; uses and promotes safe behaviors based on training and lessons learned.
