The Division of Health Sciences is the largest and most complex division within the University, employing more than 700 EPA employees and approximately 1,700 SPA employees. The Division is composed of numerous Centers, Institutes, and agencies such as the East Carolina Heart Institute and Eastern Area Health Education Center, the Colleges of Allied Health Sciences and Nursing, the School of Medicine, the School of Dentistry, and the Laupus Health Sciences Library. In addition to the academic and administrative responsibilities of the division, the four professional schools provide clinical services throughout eastern North Carolina in a variety of settings and venues. This position is located in the School of Dentistry and will report to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs.Job Duties :
The Office of Student Affairs within the SoDM provides a comprehensive array of specially tailored services for prospective and enrolled students. Within this programmatic structure reside functions related to student recruitment and admissions, a broad range of student services offerings, student counseling services, and support for student financial aid.
The person in this position has to have a thorough working knowledge of the operational details and policies and procedures for each area. In assuring that all of these functions operate smoothly in meeting the needs of prospective and enrolled students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders, this position serves as a resource for researching and responding to atypical situations and questions that fall outside of the parameters of normal policies and procedures. This position works closely with the SoDM’s Director of Admissions in managing the complex operations of the student admissions process. In order to facilitate the admissions program, the position requires a unique combination of strong analytical and technical skills and outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.Minimum Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.License or Certification required by statute or regulation:

Bachelor Degree in Business, Communications, Management or Similar Degree
Experience with Mac OS
Experience in Higher Education Student Affairs or professional students proficiency in Microsoft Office
Excellent computer and database management skills
Experience with developing reports
Experience in University/Higher Education setting
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work with diverse groups
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the capacity for managing several tasks simultaneously
Flexibility and the ability to meet respond to requests and provide information and services within tight time parameters
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
The ability to create and maintain a spirit of cooperation, support, and understanding for working and relating well to people with different backgrounds, cultures, education, and environment.
