Organizational Unit Overview:

ECU Physicians is the multispecialty group practice of the Brody School of Medicine. ECU Physicians has over 430 providers and sees over 700,000 patient visits per year. ECU Physicians is participating member in the Coastal Plains Network Accountable Care Organization and works closely with Vidant Health to improve the health of the citizens of Eastern North Carolina.

This complex organization faces increasing challenges to provide assigned nurses to serve as Health Coaches to assist patients with chronic disease management. The importance of chronic disease management is to not only improve the quality of our patient’s lives but to also assist in meeting required quality measures.

The positions will be assigned to primary care clinics but will be centrally managed. The positions will be hired by ECU Physicians but will have joint reporting relationship with Director of Nursing for ECU Physicians and HealthAccess, Manager of Case Management. Vidant Medical Group through Health Access has had robust Health Coach Program and will assist in training and oversight through a management contract.

Job Duties :

Pediatric Health Coach Nurse Specialists are skilled practitioners in the treatment and care of specialized or acute and critically ill patients. Utilizing considerable knowledge of the specialty area, this nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care through independent nursing assessment and evaluation of patient conditions. This nurse will serve as a primary resource for other clinical staff in the specialty area, providing expert consultation and/or in-service training. If involved in research, responsibilities include administering protocols and providing advanced-level technical advice on the condition of patients.

CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION – NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Graduation from state-accredited school of registered nursing and two years of nursing experience, with at least one year in the assigned specialty area. Must have a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

License or Certification required by statute or regulation:

Graduation from state-accredited school of registered nursing and two years or nursing experience, with at least one year in the assigned specialty area. Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:

One year of Pediatric Experience.

License or Certification required by the Department:
