Executes development and coordination of major or significant capital outlay projects through the planning, design, bidding, construction, and close out phases including but not limited to meeting with campus clients including faculty, deans, high-level administration staff, Board of Trustee members, and Facilities leadership, external architects and engineers; determining project scope and duration; coordinating A/E procurement, cost estimates, and feasibility studies; implementing established budget and schedule to meet program needs and limitations; negotiating to gain consensus and final approval; and providing summary reports and direction to all parties involved.Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions):
Master’s degree in engineering, engineering related field, or architecture from an accredited college or university and 4 years of demonstrated years of project management experience including experience with design and construction and management of major construction projects, or bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering related field, or architecture from an accredited college or university and 6 years of demonstrated years of project management experience including experience with design and construction and management of major construction projects.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of principles and practices of modern architecture, design engineering and facility construction. Knowledge of codes, laws, rules and regulations governing the construction and/or modification of facilities.
Knowledge of principles and practices of effective project management. Knowledge of contractual responsibilities, processes and procedures governed by the AIA architectural agreements (Series A, B and C). Ability to oversee the work of subordinate engineers or architects. Ability to establish positive working relationships with customers, superiors, subordinates, associates, design and construction consultants, state, local and federal professional personnel and other public and private sector organizations and individuals. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to prepare, review and revise plans and specifications. Ability to problem solve and utilize conscious decision making. Ability to build teams and involve stakeholders.
