The Center for Research in Educational Policy (CREP), a nationally recognized leader in education research and evaluation, is part of the College of Education at the University of Memphis (UofM) and is designated as a State of Tennessee Center of Excellence. Having conducted large scale evaluations in over 37 states, for over 30 years, CREP’s primary mission has been to conduct rigorous research and evaluation in preK-12 schools and higher education as well as multi-disciplinary and community outreach programs. CREP’s partnerships have involved clients in a variety of industries, including private corporations, higher education researchers, preK-12 school districts, and state and municipal governments.

(a) Position summary:

CREP is seeking applicants for a post-doctoral researcher position in the field of educational evaluation, research, and policy. This position is for individuals interested in pursuing a career dedicated to applied research methodology. The post-doctoral researcher will participate as a team member with CREP faculty researchers in conducting evaluation and research activities for CREP’s federal, state, and local grants and contracts, ranging from large-scale RCTs to qualitative case studies. The post-doctoral researcher will be responsible for collecting and analyzing research data, contributing to the development of research designs and data analysis plans for new grant proposals, performing statistical analyses to evaluate research aims, developing and evaluating new measurement instruments, implementing research designs for newly awarded and ongoing grants, preparing technical reports, and dissemination and communication of findings to a diverse audience in a variety of formats.

The applicant will receive mentorship and training from CREP research faculty in the areas of project design, grant writing, research ethics, advanced statistical analyses, developing and evaluating measurement instruments, disseminating research findings, designing new studies and data analysis plans, and What Works Clearinghouse guidelines. The position does not require teaching or clinical workloads.

(b) Minimum position qualifications:

The position requires a Doctoral Degree in social or behavior science, such as Education, Education Policy or Research, or Psychology; a strong record of research productivity, including publication and presentations; skills in applied statistical methods (including multilevel models); ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member; excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications; and strong organizational skills. Knowledge and experience in the following areas are desired: Education and education interventions, STEM, and literacy. Demonstrated knowledge of at least one statistical analysis package or program (R, SAS, SPSS) is strongly preferred, in addition to prior experience with grant development and grant writing.
