Job Summary: The Social Worker II plans, coordinates, and delivers clinical services to clients at immediate level of complexity.
Additional Department Summary: The Social Work Professional II: Licensed, Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the Office of Case Management and Social Services oversees case management activities at a complex, multidisciplinary, ambulatory care clinic at University Medical Center with a patient panel of over 57,000 patients. The program provides full-spectrum outpatient care to residents and communities in west Alabama. The LICSW oversees all daily aspects of the case management program and has the responsibility of developing and delivering a robust field education curriculum to a rotating cadre of social work students, primarily from The University of Alabama School of Social Work. Additionally, this person will assist with teaching students from multiple ancillary health programs, including but not limited to students from medicine (undergraduate and graduate), pharmacy, psychology, and nutrition. The LICSW will also ensure that community resource connections and relationships are current and in accordance with the needs of the patient population. The incumbent will assist in the provision of training programs for staff and will assist the Director in the development of curriculum and program materials and policy and procedures manuals. This person must be qualified to supervise social work students at all levels of training and must be qualified to provide therapeutic interventions for individuals, families, and groups on a limited basis and at the discretion of the Director. This person will work with the Program Assistant to coordinate student schedules for learners from myriad disciplines and in multiple clinical learning settings. This person will also supervise the management of a medication assistance program that is operated from within the Office of Case Management and Social Services. Additionally, the LICSW may provide direct emergent crisis intervention services as needed and may maintain a small panel of private clinical patients.
Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and four (4) years of progressively complex social work practice in individual and family counseling and/or case management. Experiences should include provision of therapeutic services to individuals and populations ranging from expectant parents to geriatric patients and across a swath of socioeconomic backgrounds. Teaching experience with a social work academic program including field education instruction. Management experience in the coordination of grant or contract program and services and in the coordination of care across multiple clinical enterprises and with complex, dynamic family systems. Leadership experience in the presentation of departmental programs and services to the organization, the community, and to patients. Experience in the provision of training to multi-disciplinary groups. Licensed to practice in appropriate professional discipline by the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners. Holds a license to practice social work at the LICSW level.
