Job Summary: The Security Resources Assistant (SRA), with moderate supervision, provides security services to the University community by monitoring, receiving, processing, and responding to information dealing with physical security access control and safety issues.
Additional Department Summary: This position positively represents the University of Alabama by performing various tasks related to the safety and security of campus to include but not limited to: providing safety assistance to the University community and visitors, performing foot patrol, securing and locking University facilities, responding to alarms, receiving and processing requests for non-emergency assistance, staffing the central monitoring station and maintaining a variety of logs and files. The SRA I will work 12 hour shifts (days or nights) to include weekends and holidays.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High School Degree or GED and some work experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Prior to a conditional job offer, Security Resources Assistant applicants must successfully complete the following: departmental interview with a multi-tasking test and read test component, criminal history check, and detailed background investigation. Must be able to work 12 hours shifts (days or nights) to include weekends and holidays. Must be able to perform foot patrol and work outside in all weather conditions. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis. Upon conditional job offer, applicants must successfully complete a psychological profile and a training program followed by a 1040 hour probationary period. Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier.
Skills and Knowledge: Good communication skills, reading comprehension, word processing and computer skills, keyboarding, multi-task performance abilities. Must be able to work without direct supervision from the supervisors and must have the ability to utilize judgment in application of departmental policy.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in a customer-oriented environment
