Position Details:

Summary of Duties:

The Academic Support Staff for the College of Education independently coordinates and manages day to day unit activities, serves as the primary point of contact and administrative support for the Education programs at WSU Tri-Cities representing the unit’s goals and interests within the university and community.

The duties of this position include providing Director, faculty, and student support, promoting events, providing information and advice regarding WSU policies and procedures, providing support for all graduate programs across the WSU Tri-Cities campus, coordinating program inquiries, supporting student admissions and assessment, and coordinating with the WSU Graduate School on student progress.

This position is also responsible for helping to coordinate office inventory, coordinate travel reservations, purchase general office supplies and reconcile transactions, and assist with course scheduling. Incumbent works collaboratively with internal and external constituents.

Required Qualifications:

One year of experience as an Administrative Assistant 1 OR a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or closely allied field and two years of responsible office experience at the senior clerical level or higher.

Clerical or office work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Graduate study may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

Additional Requirements:

Two years of full-time professional experience providing services to students within an educational setting or closely related experience.

Proficiency in the use of computers and MS Office software program Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to communicate complex policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with a multi-campus system, academic rules, policies and procedures.

Knowledge of admissions process.

Demonstrated experience with WSU administrative information systems such as OARS, SRTS, RoNET and Workday.

Experience working with student records.
