Summary of Duties: This position reports to the Office Manager within the WSU Wenatchee Tree Fruit Research & Extension Center and is a member of the administrative Team. In a highly organized and detail-oriented fashion, this position is responsible for fiscal support functions, including but not limited to: prepare, assist and monitor grant budgets for research, assist with budget preparation, estimates, monitoring budget status and expenditures for extension, physical plant, self-sustaining programs and the local USDA facility; maintain and update filing systems for grant work and other sensitive material; participate in special projects and/or assignments. This position exercises independent judgment to make decisions and is authorized to take initiative to perform responsibilities with discretion.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, which must include 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting and one year of relevant professional experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting or related field; OR equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience administering budgets.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of state and federal laws/regulations pertaining to fiscal management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage state, federal and private grants.
  • Experience in analyzing, interpreting, and applying regulations, policies, and procedures in areas related to fiscal management and operations in a comparable, complex organization.

Associate Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence Recently Announced

Dr. Lisa Guerrero was recently named associate vice provost for inclusive excellence. Guerrero has been an active advocate for diversity and inclusion since joining the WSU faculty in 2004. She is currently a professor of Comparative Ethnic Studies in WSU’s School of Languages, Cultures, and Race. She will maintain her faculty position, while serving as associate vice provost in a half-time appointment.

Dr. Guerrero will provide leadership to academic affairs in implementing WSU’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. She will help to identify and implement best practices and evidence-based approaches in faculty hiring, tenure and promotion, research support, faculty retention, teaching and mentoring, and curriculum planning. One of her first areas of responsibility will be to oversee the Racism and Social Inequality in the Americas faculty cluster hire program for Fall 2021.
