Position Details:

Summary of Duties:

The Financial Aid and Student Services Coordinator is primarily responsible for the planning, coordination and counseling of financial aid, scholarships and other campus student support services.

This position helps support students with financial aid, conducts financial aid presentations, leads financial literacy education, and coordinates the campus’s scholarship awarding. This position will process Student Emergency Hardship Fund requests, and helps connect students with other campus resources and the student care team. The position serves as back up if a student is in crisis and connecting students with access center resources.

The Financial Aid and Student Services Coordinator is part of the Student Services team in the Office of Academic and Student Affairs and is supervised by the Director of Student Services. This position works collaboratively with campus and university partners to deliver effective services that support the retention and growth of the student body at WSU Tri-Cities.

Required Qualifications:

Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.

Additional Requirements:

Experience working in student services or related education/experience (i.e. financial aid office, community resource office or counseling services);

Demonstrated ability to communicate complex policies and procedures;

Current driver’s license or the ability to obtain prior to employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with college students;

Experience working with diverse populations;

Ability to create and give public presentations;

Fluency in a language in addition to English;

Experience developing and fostering community relationships;

Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict.
