Manage a team of bartenders and cocktail servers engaged in preparing and serving food and beverages for Maikka Lobby Bar and Patio area. Build drink menus; deliver food and beverage to patrons, directly or through servers. Must be able to manage patron’s consumption of alcohol. This position serves as a Trainer. The Trainer is responsible for supervising the learning experiences of students in all areas of the Hotel at Kirkwood Center, the Kirkwood Center for Hospitality Arts and the Kirkwood Center for Continuing Education.

  • Develop, implement and maintain the quality standards for Maikka Lobby Bar.
  • Take food/beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons, ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of bar, lounge and patio areas.
  • Proficient on POS terminal and cash handling.
  • Attend service and food trainings.
  • Understand and practice “Serving Alcohol with Care” principles.
  • Regular and consistent attendance at work.
  • Maintain TiPS certification.
  • Track TiPS certification for all Food & Beverage staff.
  • Maintain Maikka Lobby Bar program including specials and promotions.
  • Work with Restaurant and Beverage Manager to maintain proper beverage costs, labor costs and food costs for Maikka Lobby Bar.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

    Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.


    High school diploma or the equivalent required.Must be at least 21 years of age. Preference will be given to those candidates with a post high school degree. Preference will be given to those candidates with a minimum of two years full-time, experience in a related hospitality/beverage setting, 1 year leadership or the equivalent education and related work experience. Must have valid driver’s license and own transportation.
