Assistant Director for MBA Admissions, Marketing and Communications - McDonough School of Business

At Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business, our mission is to build global business knowledge and inspire ethical leaders to serve the common good. Our MBA Career Center has 6+ career advisors, a career curricula team, Associate Dean, two Assistant Deans, the operations team, and hundreds of key employer accounts and relationships.

The Assistant Director for MBA Admissions, Marketing and Communications has responsibilities to recruit, admit, yield, and retain progressively higher quality prospective students to the MBA program. They also assists the Associate Dean on other marketing and communications initiatives such as video marketing, editing various marketing pieces from our external marketing vendor, and the overall marketing and communications strategy. Reporting to the Associate Dean of MBC Admissions, the Assistant Director has duties that include but are not limited to:

Communications and Marketing
  • Set strategy and executes the email communications plan for use in recruiting, yielding, and retaining prospective MBA candidates, executes these email campaigns through Marketo
  • Develop metrics and track analytics of this email communication strategy
  • Develop and design infographics used in communications
  • Design and create presentations and accompanying talking points
  • Manage overall website strategy for the MBA Admissions pages, and work with Assistant Director of Marketing and Operations to implement changes
  • Manage the Welcome website strategy and update entirely
  • Design and create print marketing collateral as needed
  • Assist with creation of marketing videos
  • Assist with approval social media ads and other ads from marketing vendor


Application Review and Evaluation
  • Evaluate MBA applications and make admissions decision recommendations to the MBA Admissions Committee
  • Serve as a member of the Admissions Committee and attend weekly AdComm selection meetings
  • Analyze and synthesize a large amount of often conflicting data (including undergraduate transcripts, test scores, professional work history, letters of recommendation, extracurricular involvement, essays, and interview report) to assure the selection of the best applicants for admission to the MBA programs
  • Conduct personal interviews with applicants to evaluate their suitability for the Georgetown MBA program


Recruitment
  • Travel and attend McDonough recruitment events and interviews candidates in selected cities throughout the world to increase Georgetown MBA Program visibility and attract high quality applicants
  • Participate in virtual recruitment activities to recruit, retain, and yield prospective MBA candidates
  • Respond to routine and non-routine inquiries from applicants and admitted students concerning the application process, notification, financial aid information, visa requirements, and program requirements
  • Conduct personal phone calls and outreach to prospective students interested in pursuing the Georgetown MBA


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree - preference for Master's degree in business, higher education, or counseling
  • 2 to 5 years of experience within a corporate or university setting - preference for marketing, communications, sales, business development or recruitment/admissions experience
  • Passion for content creation
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Team player with a collaborative nature
  • Sound judgement, critical assessment skills and detail orientation
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Strong editorial and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Prezi, Canva and Microsoft Office Suite (in particular Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management software (CRMs) and/or Marketing Automation systems - preference for specific experience with Salesforce, TargetX, and Marketo products
  • Availability and willingness to travel
