ATHLETICS DEPT INTERN
Sports Nutrition Fellow
This position is a temporary (12 month) position, with the opportunity for extension that will assist the Sports Nutrition Department in program development and will have primary duties working directly with M/W Basketball or Football and additional Olympic Sports per discretion of the Director of Sports Nutrition. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to assessment of nutrition status and dietary habits of student-athletes; provide meal plans or other nutritional guidance for student athletes based on nutritional deficits or specific performance goals; provide individual and team education; measure and interpret body composition results; create and deliver nutrition education materials through various mediums; plan and execute special events such as grocery shopping trips and cooking demos; be present at team meals and play a role in nutrition education at meals; assist team managers in production of and implementation of post-workout recovery smoothies and stocking of locker room fuel; will have other duties as assigned by Director of Sports Nutrition. This position must be proficient in interpersonal communication and organizational skills to serve as a resource to the athletic department including: athletic medicine, sports performance, sports psychology coaching staffs and teams, and catering/dining services.
Preferred Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required in Nutrition Sciences or equivalent required. Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD) and have experience in athletics and willingness to strictly adhere to NCAA rules and regulations. Must have flexible work schedule; be willing and able to work evenings and weekends.
Experience working with Football and/or Basketball preferred.
Pay: Monthly stipend
