Position Summary:

The candidate will be the project manager and primary contact for all external contract studies entering the HTSF facility. He/she will collaborate on experimental design, implementation, and new methods development with the external contract study client and HTSF leadership/staff. The selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating data processing and management for these projects.

The Research Associate Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring that:
(1)All study concerns are addressed. Act as point person for contract studies and HTSF staff for all questions related to concerns and/or processing.
(2)Samples received from the studies meet HTSF standard to move forward with processing
(3)Library preparation division meets HTSF quality needs. When deficient, the individual will conduct trouble shooting. If necessary, studies will be contacted about sample replacement and/or withdrawal.
(4)Sequencing data aligns with expected required results as agreed upon prior to the onset of the study.
(5)Sample processing moves efficiently through the HTSF and all deadlines are met for the final data delivery. They will act the key contact person for HTSF processing group concerns
(6)Managing databases that record the scope of work (sample shipment and arrival/sample processing history/sample storage/ Sample returns to the study/ resubmissions as required and data delivery)
(7)Assist in development of specialized SOPs, staff training on these SOPs and distribution of SOPs to contract studies as needed

It is the responsibility of the individual to assist with the TracSeq database development on behalf of the study. This may include updates. But more often, it will be the development of entirely new features/ tracking /interactive screens for staff to meet new technologies as they become necessary. New technologies are introduced on a regular basis. It is the HTSF goal to offer studies cutting edge technologies to better answer the study needs. Initially, as pilots for proof of theory and then to adopt as standard processing pipeline for studies. This will require working closely with HTSF leadership. Monthly / weekly reports will need to be generated for projects and are preset prior to the initiation of the study and will be made available a preschedule biweekly or monthly study-HTSF update meetings. Additional reports will be generated for the HTSF staff as demanded for the efficient processing of materials. As part of the reporting aspect, the individual may need to run data analyses on the library preparation, library QAQC, sequencing data/ QAQC to confirm that agreed standards are met for the study. Some of this will be the use of reset and custom data analysis pipelines. When standards are not met, issue will need to be brought to the HTSF leadership attention, resolutions determined and confirmed with the study as deemed necessary.

Educational Requirements:

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required; for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A background in biology, cancer or genomics.
  • Candidates should have experience working in clinical environments or strong interest in clinical research.
  • Helpful if candidates have experience analyzing small RNA data, total RNAseq data, and metagenomics data, but not required.
  • The selected candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. He/she must be able to work in a high pressure and in a diverse environment. This individual must be flexible, collaborative, yet able to work effectively with a high degree of independence. Strong organizational skills is essential for this role.
  • Must have knowledge of such software/programs as Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
