Essential Job Duties:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide emergency care to critical patients in the Small Animal Hospital of the Veterinary Health Complex. Emergency triaging and stabilization of cats, dogs, exotics, including catheter placement, radiographs, lab-work, medication administration. Works with clinicians, as well as students and client interaction.

tbd - all shifts, including weekends & holidays - approximately up to 20hrs/week

Minimum Experience/Education:

Prefer at least one year experience in an emergency hospital or specialty hospital.
Must be proficient at emergency patient triage and assessment, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, drug calculations and ECG monitoring.

Department Required Skills:

Venipuncture, IV catheter placement
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
Able to use all specialty equipment, calculate drugs and in depth knowledge of veterinary medicine.
Good communication skills and ability to record verbal orders.
Ability to maintain clam in a fast paced environment.
Ability to interact professionally with many different groups.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:

Prefer registered/certified veterinary technician – RVT or CVT
Prefer 2-3 years veterinary assistant/technician experience.

$16.00/hr - $18.00/hr - commensurate with experience
